Sundays

What to Expect

Whatever you experience of church, we know that it can be quite daunting walking into something new for the first time. With that in mind, we try to make our gatherings as friendly and accessible as possible. You will find a warm and friendly welcome with our team on hand to provide you with any help that may be required.

Times

Our Sunday morning gatherings start at 10.30am and conclude no later than 12noon. There are no reserved seats, you should feel free to sit wherever you feel comfortable.

Directions & Parking

Our main Sunday gatherings are held at our main building - Oakwood Church, Obridge Road, Taunton, TA2 7PU. We have some car parking on site, with the remainder of parking available on surrounding residential streets.

You can locate us on this map

Sung Worship. Our services involve singing praise and worship to God. If you're unfamiliar with Christian worship songs then please do not feel under any pressure to do what everyone else is doing. Feel free to sit or stand and to join in as you wish.

Children. We want children and families to enjoy coming to Oakwood’s services. Due to the Covid restrictions, Oakwood Kids has not operated on Sunday morning as it has in the past. Presently, there is a short video/talk for the children during the service and activity packs are prepared every Sunday. We soon hope to re-start a creche space running concurrently with the service.

Communion. We often share communion together during our service, ‘breaking bread’ together to celebrate Jesus' death on the cross, resurrection and soon return.

Bible Talk/Preach. Every week someone will bring a talk/preach from the Bible. We usually follow a particular series of teaching for a number of weeks - perhaps a book of the Bible or a specific theme. There is often opportunity to be prayed with during the service. if you would like. You can listen to some of the talks/preaches on this website.

Getting to know people. Following the conclusion of the meeting, refreshments are served, providing a great opportunity to meet people and to ask any questions you may have about faith or Oakwood Church.

Giving. Each week presents an opportunity to give financially to the work of Oakwood Church. This is primarily for those who call Oakwood their home so please feel no obligation whatsoever to give.

Disability Access

Oakwood has good disabled access to the building. We also have a hearing loop system and disabled access toilets.
